Co-regulation Station Workshop @ Anahata’s Purpose

We are surrounded by stimuli, distractions, and stressors that disconnect us from our bodies and each other. What’s more, we don’t often have time and space to come back home to our bodies and self-regulate before connecting with others. And yet, our bodies are constantly responding and reacting to each other in conscious and unconscious ways.

Resmaa Menakem wrote: “Our bodies guide and follow other bodies; a settled nervous system encourages other nervous systems to settle. This is why a calm, settled presence can create room for a multitude of possibilities, and become the foundation for changing the world.”

Therefore, in a world full of dysregulated individuals, co-regulation can be the medicine that brings us closer together in authentic ways.

In this workshop, we will explore coregulation through a trauma-informed and polyvagal lens with the use of somatic practices that will help you cultivate an understanding of your somatic experience of the world around you and bring you into closer relationship with your body and others.

Through breath, movement, and touch (with consent), you will explore how to effectively regulating yourself as a foundation for coregulation, learn how to listen to the changes that happen in your body when you interact with others, create mindful and consensual coregulatory experiences with others, and realize how you can use the power of coregulation to create harmonious relationships and communities.

Mackenzie Stevenson

My personal journey through anxiety and panic disorder sparked a deep curiosity about the intricate connections between mind, body, and spirit. Over time, I've discovered how to harness the wisdom of my body as a guiding resource. My passion lies in assisting others on their own paths of embodiment, creating a supportive environment where they can authentically witness and embrace their healing journey. Continuously evolving, I draw inspiration from the rhythms of nature and am deeply influenced by what came before us. My approach to healing is deeply rooted in reverence for the elements and the timeless wisdom they embody, and I offer this in my work through ceremony and ritual. Over the years I’ve trained in Healing Touch, Somatic Therapy, Cuddle Therapy, Tantra, Focusing Oriented Therapy and Whole Person Coaching. It’s an honor to be on this path with you!

Embrace the opportunity to prioritize your self-care journey. Join us at the Self Care Sensorium and embark on a path to greater vitality, resilience, and inner harmony. We look forward to welcoming you!

VIRTUAL | The Power of Touch: Self-Touch for Nervous System Regulation

When was the last time you were present with your body?

In the fast-paced world we live in, it can be easy to dissociate from the body, which can cause us to store unprocessed stress in the body and miss the signals the body sends us. This can lead to symptoms like chronic tension, anxiety, chronic pain, decreased mobility, poor posture, digestive issues, and low mood. Self-applied touch can bring us deeper into relationship with the body and untangle the layers of emotion and tension that get stuck there.

This workshop is a chance for you to come back home to your body and release tension through healing self touch and bodywork. We’ll discuss how you can work with your nervous system to regulate yourself through gentle practices and techniques that you can use in your everyday life. We’ll explore polyvagal theory, self-bodywork techniques, the power of touch, various nervous system regulation tools, and what it means to be present with the body.
